Based in St. John’s, NL, the Accounting Coordinator will support the financial operations of the organization. This role blends accounting operations with financial reporting and controlling, offering the ideal mix for someone who wants to deepen their accounting expertise while gaining exposure to budgeting, audit, and internal controls.

What You Will Do
  • Manage daily banking activities including payments, deposits, transfers, petty cash, and wire transactions. 
  • Complete reconciliations (bank, customer, intercompany) and maintain accurate SAP entries. 
  • Generate AR payments for Fishers, process loan related entries, and record payroll deductions.
  • Prepare month end journal entries such as accruals, prepaids, long term loan entries, vessel revenue, and adjusting entries. 
  • Prepare and submit HST returns and support compliance with WHSCC, HAPSET, and other regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and internal management reports. 
  • Support budgeting and annual business planning through cost validation and data preparation. 
  • Participate in annual audit preparation and documentation, ensuring strong internal control alignment.  
  • Support compliance with provincial/federal taxation and employee programs. 
  • Collaborate with International Treasury to support efficient cash management practices. 
  • Assist with special projects, analysis, and presentations for management.
  • Provide general administrative accounting support as needed.
  • Collaborate across departments and contribute positively to a team oriented environment.
Qualifications 
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting, including bookkeeping, reporting, and full cycle accounting tasks.
  • Experience working with SAP or other financial software is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite is necessary.
  • Understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
