The Opportunity

The Accounting Assistant will support daily accounting activities, financial record management, and general bookkeeping operations. What You Will Do
- Support daily accounting operations in a multi-entity environment including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense processing.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare invoices, track payments, and follow up as needed.
- Assist in preparing internal financial reports and summaries.
- Support the preparation of financial statements under the direction of senior team members.
- Support general office accounting functions and ad hoc requests.
- Assist with data entry, filing, and digital record management.
- Contribute to project-based accounting tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams across operations, marine, and administration.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and suggest enhancements.
- Post secondary degree or diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Interest in pursuing a CPA in the future is considered an asset but is not required.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical ability, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated work ethic and a willingness to learn.
- Exposure to payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting software is an asset.
- Experience in industries such as marine, oil and gas, construction, or property management is considered an asset.
- Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
