Meridia Recruitment is pleased to partner with the AXYZ Automation Inc. in the recruitment of a Human Resources Manager to support their ~85-person team and manufacturing facility in Waterdown, ON with a HR Generalist reporting out of Ohio.
Reporting to the President the HR Manager will be responsible for all HR activities for the Canadian team including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding employees, payroll, communication of policies, benefits administration, WSIB compliance, professional development and employee reviews and talent mapping. They will also provide guidance to HR processes internationally with a direct report out of Ohio.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide recruiting assistance and candidate screening and assessment
- Onboarding of new employees (i.e. completion of new hire documents/ timeclock registration)
- Implement and administer employee policies and promote positive employee relations/culture
- Manage and monitor performance-related issues and recommend changes that could increase productivity
- Maintain all current employee files
- Process payroll functions for all Canada-based employees within AXYZ Automation Group (AAG)
- Maintain job descriptions for all positions
- Record all injuries with WSIB
- Manage the Human Resources Generalist at our Ohio location and provide leadership on AAG’s HR processes
- Administer benefit programs for all Canada-based employees - such as life, health, dental, vision, pension plans, disability, vacation and sick leave. Informs employees of any program changes
- Prepare required documents for WSIB, Long Term Disability Claims, etc.
- Consults legal counsel to ensure policies comply with federal and provincial law, update and distribute company handbook as required
- Be well-versed in laws and regulations regarding hiring and firing
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding policies and procedures, ensures they are applied uniformly
- Assist Events Committee as needed with monthly luncheons; assist in coordination of retirement functions, Christmas parties and other events as required
- Assist both the President and VP Finance on site with Ad Hoc duties
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Post-secondary Degree/ Diploma in relevant discipline
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Human Resources Generalist role required.
- Regular attendance is required. The employee is required to physically be at the AAG facility during their scheduled work hours, unless otherwise approved by supervisor
- The HR Generalist position is exposed to significant amounts of confidential information and as such, the incumbent holds an explicit amount of AAG trust. Violation or conflict of interest guidelines would be a serious breach of employment. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, working with various groups within the organization, completing tasks in an effective/ efficient and accurate manner
- A valid driver’s license
- Able to use the computer for extended periods of time
- Able to sit for extended periods of time
- Sufficient mobility to perform job successfully
- Able and willing to comply with all company safety rules and regulations
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Proficiency using UltiPro payroll systems an asset
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
- Dependable, trustworthy and maintain strict confidentiality of information
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow through to successful completion
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills (writing, listening, speaking)
- Ability to learn new procedures quickly and thoroughly
- Good decision-making skills
- Strong compensation, $85,000 - $95,000. Commensurate with experience.
- Hours of Work: Monday to Friday floor hours 7am-3pm, this can be flexible starting a little later
- Benefits: Health care benefits, 3 weeks’ vacation as well as sick days/float days
