Meridia Recruitment is happy to partner with Midland to recruit a forward-thinking Associate Sustainability Engineer to join their team in Dieppe, New Brunswick.

Role Overview
As an Associate Sustainability Engineer, you will support Midland’s sustainability initiatives, combining engineering expertise with data-driven analysis to help the organization achieve its environmental goals. You will contribute to projects focused on emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainable operations, working closely with cross-functional teams to turn ideas into measurable impact. This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about sustainability and wants to grow in a collaborative, high-performing team.

Your Responsibilities:
Sustainability Strategy & Initiatives
  • Help define and implement sustainability goals and strategies that align with Midland’s objectives and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to programs focused on reducing fuel, waste reduction, fleet electrification and terminal efficiency.
  • Research and identify emerging technologies and innovative solutions to improve environmental performance and operational efficiency.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect, track, and analyze sustainability metrics, including emissions, energy use, and operational performance.
  • Assist in preparing reports, dashboards, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Support sustainability surveys, assessments, and benchmarking efforts.
Project Support & Collaboration
  • Assist with sustainability-related projects, including planning, coordination, and implementation.
  • Work closely with operations, fleet, facilities, procurement, and safety teams to advance initiatives.

Compliance & Standards
  • Help ensure adherence to internal sustainability goals and standards.
  • Research on forward looking trends and regulations related to the transportation industry.

Project Support & Collaboration
  • Work closely with operations, fleet, facilities, procurement, and safety teams to advance initiatives.
  • Engage with external partners, vendors, and industry organizations to support sustainability innovation.

Your Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings an engineering background with a passion in sustainability or environmental initiatives, along with strong analytical and project management skills. You are knowledgeable about key environmental frameworks and comfortable working with data to drive decisions. A collaborative mindset, clear communication abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.

Your Qualifications Include: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Sustainability, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in sustainability, environmental engineering, or energy management is an asset; ideally within transportation, logistics, or industrial operations.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental performance.
  • Analytical and data-driven, with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI is a strong asset.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
