The Role
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Services and CFO, the Director, Finance provides senior level leadership, comprehensive analytical and financial risk-assessment and mitigation strategies, as well as technical expertise to the development, implementation and management of the College’s budget and capital planning processes. The Director, Finance provides leadership and management oversight, along with comprehensive technical expertise to the administration and risk management of financial operations, oversight over procurement and insurance portfolios of the College and the College foundation.
The Director is a key player in the development and active monitoring of high quality strategic and operational planning and evidence-based decisions, which have far reaching implications for the College’s sustainability and quality of programs and services. The Director provides oversight for the timely and accurate accounting of all revenues and expenditures of the College, the development and implementation of appropriate accounting controls, auditing standards and procurement practices and procedures. The position’s sphere of influence ranges well beyond the purely financial, extending to policy and procedure, long-term planning, involvement with Provincial initiatives, and performance and risk measurement. The incumbent plans and implements budgetary controls, provides ongoing information to College administrators/managers and the Board in addition to variance reports, mid-year reviews, and provides oversight and review of the annual financial audit preparation. The Director is responsible for the review of program costing; including financial analysis and recommendations to College administration related to proposed programs and revenue-generating contracts.

Qualifications
- Graduate degree in the field of accounting or finance plus professional qualification of CPA (CA/CMA) or CGA, required
- Minimum 10 years of experience in financial management or accounting
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with people at all organizational levels, and with diverse and sometimes conflicting interests and philosophies
- Demonstrated ability to present complex financial, statistical and other information in a clear and understandable manner
- Demonstrated competence with complex financial and statistical modelling and highly developed analytical skills
- Demonstrated high degree of competence dealing with integrated financial information systems
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, public sector accounting standards and non-for-profit accounting standards
- Proficiency with complex/enterprise financial reporting systems
