Meridia is excited to partner with Living Stone to recruit a Production Manager to lead operations in their stone fabrication facility in Mount Uniacke, NS.
Role Description
As the Production Manager, you will ensure that manufacturing activities are of exceedingly high quality and are conducted in a safe, efficient manner. Managing your team, you will plan work to meet sales forecasts and ensuring on-time delivery. You will be responsible to identify opportunities and lead initiatives that promote a more productive team and a higher quality product. Your focus will be on efficiency, quality, and accountability, ensuring every job moves through the shop accurately, on time, and to Living Stone’s high standards.

Role Description
As the Production Manager, you will ensure that manufacturing activities are of exceedingly high quality and are conducted in a safe, efficient manner. Managing your team, you will plan work to meet sales forecasts and ensuring on-time delivery. You will be responsible to identify opportunities and lead initiatives that promote a more productive team and a higher quality product. Your focus will be on efficiency, quality, and accountability, ensuring every job moves through the shop accurately, on time, and to Living Stone’s high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Operations
- Lead daily production across cutting, CNC, edging, polishing, quality control, and finishing.
- Plan labour, machine, and production schedules to meet installation timelines and sales forecasts.
- Validate job information prior to production release, including drawings, measurements, materials, and customer requirements.
- Monitor production targets, KPIs, and throughput, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate job tracking to ensure visibility and accountability.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and support team members.
- Assign work based on skills, workload, and production demand.
- Foster a positive, safety-focused, and accountable shop culture.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management of team members.
- Address performance issues promptly and constructively.
Quality Assurance
- Enforce quality standards at all stages of fabrication.
- Conduct inspections and approve finished work prior to release.
- Reduce rework, remakes, and scrap through root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Ensure stone characteristics and finishes are handled correctly and consistently.
- Protect and enhance Living Stone’s reputation for premium craftsmanship.
Safety, Equipment & Facility Management
- Ensure compliance with provincial OH&S regulations, silica control programs, and PPE requirements.
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident reviews.
- Oversee equipment operation, maintenance, and repair scheduling for CNCs, saws, polishers, and material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production environment.
- Identify opportunities for capital improvements and equipment upgrades.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Scheduling to build efficient production plans.
- Coordinate with Inventory to ensure material availability.
- Communicate proactively with Sales regarding capacity, lead times, and production constraints.
- Partner with Installation teams to ensure seamless project flow.
Your Qualifications
- 3-5 years of production management experience (supervisory, team lead, or management) in an integrated manufacturing, fabrication, or production facility.
- Experience with production scheduling tools or job-tracking systems.
- Hands on leader with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold teams accountable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to build relationships
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks efficiently
- Clear communicator with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Knowledge and experience leading lean manufacturing projects is an asset
- Working knowledge of CNC machinery and fabrication processes is an asset.
