Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with Collins Construction Project Specialists inc. to recruit a Project Manager to join their growing team based out of Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

Collins Construction Project Specialists Inc. is a maritime-based and indigenous owned construction company that has been successful in delivering some of Atlantic Canada’s most exciting renewable energy projects, like The City of Summerside Sunbank and CFB Gagetown Solar Project. Beyond their expertise in renewable energy, Collins has a skilled technical team that can deliver on electrical, mechanical, civil, and metal fabrication scopes of work, positioning them as a multidisciplinary contractor with the capabilities to support their clients on a wide range of projects.

Role Description:
Reporting to the VP of Engineering & Projects, the Project Manager will lead and oversee a variety of construction projects from pre-construction through to project closeout. This includes recommending innovative ideas that will increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget as well as growing and maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders. In this role, you will be expected to plan, manage and respect project budgets, costs and associated purchasing and your expertise in risk management and safety will ensure any associated project risk is minimized.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provides overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support to a variety of  projects ensuring the project is constructed as per design, budget, resources, quality, and schedule;
• Develops and implements the project safety plan and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures;
• Manages project performance and provides performance status reports for safety, cost forecast, and schedule;
• Negotiates and issues subcontracts, major purchase orders and progress payments and monitors their progress and schedule;
• Understands, communicates, and enforces the contract and contract documents;
• Identifies and manages risk and opportunities on projects;
• Develops and coordinates overall project closeout.

Qualifications include:

• 7+ years of relevant experience as a Project Manager, supporting all phases and stages of various projects;
• Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management or a related field is a strong asset;
• Strong knowledge of construction and project methodologies, subcontract coordination, material procurement, financial management, as well as project management and scheduling best practices;
• Demonstrated leadership in health, safety and environmental protection;
• Strong negotiation, time management, problem solving and organizational skills;
• Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders;
• Exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills.
