Role Description
As the Manager of Structural Engineering, you will report directly to the President and oversee all structural design and analysis activities, ensuring compliance with building codes and client specifications. You will be responsible for hands-on project work, and you will collaborate closely with other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions, while also building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors and regulatory bodies. This position requires a balance of technical leadership and practical execution to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Role Description
As the Manager of Structural Engineering, you will report directly to the President and oversee all structural design and analysis activities, ensuring compliance with building codes and client specifications. You will be responsible for hands-on project work, and you will collaborate closely with other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions, while also building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors and regulatory bodies. This position requires a balance of technical leadership and practical execution to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver comprehensive structural design, analysis, detailing, and troubleshooting for diverse projects.
- Utilize expertise in reinforced concrete and structural steel; familiarity with building envelope systems, building science, and restoration methods considered an advantage.
- Develop detailed technical documentation, including reports, condition evaluations, and project specifications.
- Confirm all designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Assess technical submissions from contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Act as a professional representative of the firm during meetings with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Work autonomously or as part of a team to achieve project objectives and exceed client expectations.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Track project budgets and schedules, maintaining quality standards and mitigating potential risks.
- Perform site inspections throughout Nova Scotia to monitor construction progress and address project issues.
You are a skilled professional engineer with hands-on expertise in structural design and construction. Your ability to communicate and collaborate effectively ensures smooth teamwork, while your exceptional organizational skills enable you to manage projects efficiently and deliver results.
Your qualifications include:
- Completed post-secondary education with an engineering degree from an accredited university.
- Valid P.Eng designation through Engineers Nova Scotia or eligibility to obtain.
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, and proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- 10+ years experience in structural engineering or building construction.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Quick to learn and able to work independently on assignments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
