We are excited to partner with them looking to bring a Director of Finance to their team in Dartmouth, NS. 


Reporting to Vice President, Finance for Seaboard Armour Transportation and Logistics, the Director of Finance at Armour Transportation Systems is a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reporting for stakeholders, while maintaining robust accounting processes and a strong system of internal controls. 

 
Responsibilities will include: 
 
  • Lead the Financial Reporting function, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.  
  • Oversee preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules for multiple entities.  
  • Develop and maintain month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.  
  • Implement and enhance internal controls to strengthen financial governance and mitigate risk.  
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting.  
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.  
  • Lead the annual audit and tax return preparation processes with the external audit team, ensuring all filing/reporting deadlines with internal and external stakeholders are met. 
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of reporting processes and policies.  
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 
  • Other related duties as required. 

 The ideal candidate will possess: 
 
  • CPA designation. 
  • 5-10 years experience in a progressive management role. 
  • Experience with change management and continuous improvement initiatives in a complex, corporate environment. 
  • Significant experience in the preparation of financial statements and notes in a multi legal entity/ consolidated reporting environment. 
  • Solid track record in the redesign of processes to achieve greater efficiency/effectiveness while maintaining appropriate internal controls. 
  • Highly motivated, with proven success in a deadline driven environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
