Role Description
As a Senior Contaminated Sites Professional, you will provide expert consulting services in contaminated sites management for both government and private sector clients. You will apply scientific and engineering principles to lead multi-disciplinary environmental projects, manage complex site assessments and remediation programs, and contribute to the strategic growth of GEMTEC’s Environmental Team. Role Description
As a Senior Contaminated Sites Professional, you will provide expert consulting services in contaminated sites management for both government and private sector clients. You will apply scientific and engineering principles to lead multi-disciplinary environmental projects, manage complex site assessments and remediation programs, and contribute to the strategic growth of GEMTEC’s Environmental Team. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across service lines and deliver impactful solutions that support environmental compliance and sustainability.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide consulting services in contaminated sites management for government and private sector clients.
- Apply scientific and engineering principles to multi-disciplinary environmental projects.
- Manage and complete contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments, remediation programs, risk assessments, and environmental compliance monitoring.
- Prepare and review proposals and technical reports.
- Collaborate with GEMTEC’s Environmental Team and other service lines to design and deliver projects of varying sizes and complexities.
- Evaluate team needs and contribute to the growth and development of the Environmental Team.
Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced environmental engineer with a strong background in contaminated sites management. You will bring technical expertise, leadership capability, and a collaborative mindset to support GEMTEC’s growing environmental service line. You should be comfortable managing complex field programs, navigating regulatory frameworks, and building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

You should be comfortable managing complex field programs, navigating regulatory frameworks, and building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Your qualifications include:
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related field.
- 8+ years of engineering experience related to contaminated sites would be ideal.
- A thorough understanding of provincial and federal regulations related to contaminated site management.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience in preparing technical and cost proposals.
- Field program management experience, including resource and budget oversight.
- Ability to build business relationships with clients, regulators, and subcontractors.
- Experience with federal government clients is an asset.
- Technical experience in hydrogeology and/or environmental risk assessment is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel.
