Our client is a respected retail business operating multiple locations across Newfoundland and Labrador. Known for its commitment to quality and customer service, the company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its finance team and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily operations, and driving process improvements.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Manage daily sales and cash reconciliations across retail locations.
- Track and reconcile inventory, cost of goods sold, and vendor invoices.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Analyze financial data, variances, and trends for management reporting.
- Prepare and submit government remittances (HST, payroll, WSIB, etc.).
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Collaborate with store and operations teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 - 4 years of accounting experience, ideally in a retail or multi-location business.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- This is a full-time permanent position.
