IESO Nova Scotia is a new organization being created by the Nova Scotia Government to be operational in 2025. IESO Nova Scotia will reform the way Nova Scotia’s energy system is managed by assuming responsibility for managing the power system in real-time, achieving clean energy goals and planning for the province's future energy needs. We are looking to bring an experienced and motivated Position Title to their senior leadership team here in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Human Resources Manager plays a critical leadership role as part of the organization’s leadership team. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of human resources and workplace policies, programs, procedures, and practices within the organization, including recruitment, training, compensation, employee relations, total compensation, employee engagement, leadership development, performance management, and compliance with employment laws and terms of the Collective Agreements. The successful candidate will function as a liaison between management and employees, ensuring that both are represented and that the company’s HR policies and practices are followed and desired workplace goals are achieved. The Human Resources Manager will also ensure a healthy, safe and respectful environment is established, including the following of any regulatory requirements.

The Human Resources Manager plays a critical leadership role as part of the organization’s leadership team. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for:
- Manage/support full-cycle recruitment processes, from posting vacant positions to conducting interviews, supporting hiring decisions, and ensuring an effective onboarding/orientation plan is in place;
- Support the ongoing transition of Nova Scotia Power employees to ISEO-NS over the next 12 to 18 months;
- Address employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and ensuring a positive and fair work environment;
- Design and implement training programs to support career development and enhance employee and leader skillsets and knowledge;
- Manage/update the total compensation framework including salary structures, benefits programs, incentives, non-monetary components, ensuring compliance and equity;
- Implement and manage performance review systems and support leaders to provide feedback to their employees on performance;
- Manage all labour relations activities, including grievances, bargaining/negotiations, compliance with Collective Agreements, and fostering positive union relationships;
- Provide support and advice to the CEO on the workplace culture and overall impact of leadership on engagement and retention;
- Create and implement HR policies and procedures that align with company goals and legal requirements, and also to reflect the organization’s operating principles and values;
- Monitor HR metrics, such as employee turnover, and provide data-driven insights to management;
- Implement programs and initiatives that foster employee engagement and retention;
- Utilize HR software and systems to streamline HR processes and manage data;
- Support the HR & Governance Committee of the Board, as required;
- Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed and reported, as required;
- As an enterprise leader working with the CEO and senior team to set the priorities for the organization, lead by example and shape the culture of the organization;
- Lead and actively participate in fostering a high-performing, inclusive enterprise organizational culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, safety, and excellence;
- Recruit, build, and develop a dynamic and diverse team, and coach and support them to reach their individual potential and drive organizational success;
- Champions and models commitment to workplace policies and environments that strengthen diversity, equity, inclusion and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
- Post-secondary education with an emphasis in Human Resources or Business Administration, or equivalent training and experience;
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, ideally in a Generalist capacity;
- CPHR designation is considered a strong asset;
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Demonstrated success and ability in leading and motivating teams towards company/department objectives with consistent and clear processes;
- Strong integrity and professionalism, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information, as well as difficult conversations;
- Demonstrated resiliency, flexibility, and adaptability, within a complex and fast-paced environment.
