IESO Nova Scotia is a new organization being created by the Nova Scotia Government to be operational in 2025. IESO Nova Scotia will reform the way Nova Scotia’s energy system is managed by assuming responsibility for managing the power system in real-time, achieving clean energy goals and planning for the province's future energy needs. We are looking to bring an experienced and motivated Director of Information Technology (IT) to their senior leadership team here in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

We are seeking a visionary, seasoned hands-on Manager of IT/OT Architecture to lead the design and implementation of a scalable, secure, and future-ready enterprise architecture from the ground up. This is a greenfield opportunity, ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in understanding the required business capabilities and enabling those capabilities through the building of frameworks, governance models, and technical roadmaps in complex, regulated environments.

The Manager of IT/OT Architecture will be responsible for:
  • Architect the Future: Design and implement a scalable enterprise architecture that aligns with business capabilities, goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Governance & Standards: Establish architecture governance processes, frameworks, and best practices/standards to ensure consistency, integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Cross-Domain Expertise: Integrate cybersecurity, data management, IoT, and SCADA systems into a cohesive enterprise architecture.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Lead a small but growing team of architects and collaborate with stakeholders across IT/OT, operations, and business units.
  • Innovation & Strategy: Identify and recommend emerging technologies and trends while mitigating risk(s) of integrating into the current technology environment  to drive innovation, efficiencies and long-term value.
  • Communication: Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable strategies with outcomes for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Value for money: Balance meeting technology requirements and the associated costs to focus on providing value for Nova Scotia electricity/energy users
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Proven experience in enterprise architecture, ideally in an environment that requires a high degree of integration, integrity, security and reliability 
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data architecture and management, IoT, and SCADA systems.
  • Experience working within governed and regulated environments (e.g., NIST, ISO, SOX, etc.).
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to balance innovation with risk mitigation and practical implementation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • TOGAF, SABSA, or similar architecture certifications.
  • Experience in industrial or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Experience of NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) standards 
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and hybrid environments.
