Nautel Sonar is a specialized division within Nautel Ltd., which excels in designing, developing, and manufacturing cutting-edge sonar and sonar sub-systems. At Nautel Sonar, they provide a comprehensive range of OEM sonar products as well as complete "wet end" sonar sub-systems. Their clientele range from international defense entities to non-defense customers.

Meridia is pleased to partner with Nautel Sonar in their search for an Electronics Technician/Technologist to join their team in Hackett’s Cove, Nova Scotia.

Role Description

Within this specialized division, the Electronics Technician/Technologist will play a critical role in the development, validation, and optimization of electronic circuits, sub-assemblies, and transmitter systems. You will be part of a talented engineering team responsible for creating cutting-edge technology solutions to meet the demands of the marine defense and research sectors. You will have the opportunity to apply and develop your skills while providing technical support to the design project and supporting teams.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Development and testing of electronic circuits, sub-assemblies and transmitter systems;
  • Electronic component selection, circuit analysis and modeling;
  • Setup and operation of specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, qualify and analyze performance of systems;
  • Preparation and validation of design, production and product documentation;
  • Technical support to other departments as required.
Your Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Electronics Technician/Technologist course;
  • Experience working as an Electronic Technician/Technologist; Previous experience in a development environment would be an asset;
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits and systems, including use of related test equipment;
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Effective written and communication skills that will be used internally during design, in project meetings and while providing support and input to other teams;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and across different functions, as well as independently;
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and with a continuous improvement approach;
  • Experience designing analog and digital circuits would be an asset;
  • Experience with firmware development would be an asset;
  • Use of CAD programs such as schematic drawing, mechanical drawing, PCB creation and electronic circuit analysis would be an asset;
  • Ability to immediately obtain, and maintain, Controlled Goods clearance (as outlined in Section 15 of Canada’s Controlled Goods Regulations) is a requirement of this role (Canadian Citizenship/Permanent Residency).
