We are pleased to partner with them to bring a Senior Manager, Corporate Finance, to their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Senior Manager, Corporate Finance, is responsible for assisting the Corporate Controller with managing the supply chain and inventory accounting function of High Liner Foods, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures. The Senior Manager works with the Controller to provide accurate information, including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and preparing financial reports.

The Senior Manager, Corporate Finance, is responsible for assisting the Corporate Controller with managing the supply chain and inventory accounting function of High Liner Foods, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures. The Senior Manager works with the Controller to provide accurate information, including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and preparing financial reports.
Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Managing the inventory and supply chain expense accounting
- Managing the company-wide capital expenditure accounting
- Supporting the company’s budgeting and forecasting processes as they relate to inventory and supply chain costs
- Ensuring that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory, and company policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes, and procedures
- Working with external auditors, the Audit Committee, and the Board of Directors
- Arranging for and supporting compliance audits as necessary
- Assisting the Corporate Controller in setting the priorities within the accounting group
- Supporting new systems or project selections and implementing them from a strategic finance and internal control perspective
- Hiring, training, mentoring, and supervising accounting staff
- Other related duties as required or assigned
The ideal candidate will have:
- CPA designation and a degree in accounting
- Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of inventory accounting and financial management
- Proficient communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are vital to the role
- Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firms
- Financial analysis, budgeting, and some strategic planning experience
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications
- Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques
- Management and/or supervisory experience
- Knowledge of publicly traded companies and International Financial Reporting Standards
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand
- Knowledge of ERP computer systems is an asset, specifically Enterprise One
- Ability to adapt to and learn new software
- Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
