MBS Radio is a private broadcasting company, with 24 radio stations serving communities in the three Maritime Provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. We are currently looking for an Accounting Clerk, located at the Corporate Head Office, in Halifax. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, this individual will be responsible for general accounting tasks and preparation of monthly financial statements for a variety of companies, review of sales data, scrutinization of expenses and monthly budgets. The successful candidate will work with management to track and monitor the stations advertising contracts and account payables and receivables. 


Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
 
  • Performing analysis and accounting tasks for multiple companies in Quickbooks Online
  • Review of current expenses and procurement procedures
  • Perform and manage Accounts Payables/Receivables for the company
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure invoices are accurate and entered into the accounting software for advertisers
  • Review company wide sales orders as they are entered, to ensure they meet specifications and to ensure standard contract terms and conditions are adhered to
  • Monitoring the compliance of the Corporate Accounts Receivable Policy and updating the Policy when necessary
  • Work with management monthly to review and track receivable activity, providing reports as necessary
  • Process credit applications, set credit terms, and review customer accounts with station management
  • Work with Vice President, Finance on various side projects within group of companies.


The ideal candidate will possess:
 
  • Relevant mix of work experience, paired with post secondary education is preferred.
  • Experience owning end to end AP and AR. 
  • Ability to read and interpret complex material
  • Must have strong computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel), experience with ACCPAC and Simply Accounting would be an asset
  • Must have excellent communication skills, organizational abilities and proven attention to detail
  • Willingness to take initiative and follow through on projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
