At the TPPC, you will be part of a team dedicated to the management and sustainability of the second largest public pension plan in the province. The TPPC administers the Teachers’ Pension Plan in Newfoundland and Labrador, with over 18,000 members and assets exceeding $4.8 billion. The corporation is committed to delivering outstanding service while upholding values of integrity, service, performance, accountability, partnership, and inclusion. Following pension reform, the TPPC operates under a Joint Sponsorship Agreement, working closely with the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to ensure the plan’s sustainability and excellence.
On their behalf, we are seeking a Manager of Communications and Stakeholder Relations to join their team. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead the development of communication strategies that build TPPC’s voice, strengthen relationships with stakeholders, and elevate the overall member experience. This role requires a proactive individual who excels in crafting clear and engaging messages, managing media platforms, and collaborating across departments to ensure consistent and effective communications.

What You Will Do:
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to engage members and internal and external stakeholders.
- Build on an already positive member relationship by further enhancing engagement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that all messaging aligns with TPPC’s mission and strategic goals.
- Simplify complex pension-related information and communicate it in an accessible and engaging manner across various platforms.
- Lead member engagement initiatives that resonate with the plan’s diverse member base, enhancing their understanding of the pension plan.
- Manage TPPC’s media strategy, overseeing website content, social media presence, and public relations efforts.
- Lead key communications projects, such as the annual report, and manage end-to-end execution.
- Assist with the preparation and development of documents and reports for the Board and its Committees.
- Support crisis communication as needed to protect TPPC’s reputation and ensure clear messaging during urgent situations.
Who You Are:
- You hold a degree in Public Relations, Communications or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- You bring at least 7 years of experience in strategic communications, with a proven ability to create and implement communication strategies in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with creativity and the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
- You have a proven ability to simplify complex topics and communicate them effectively in a clear, engaging and accessible manner.
- Your experience includes leading communication initiatives including member engagement strategies and collaborating with senior leadership to shape the organization’s communications approach.
- Your strong project management skills allow you to oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and in line with strategic objectives and can adjust priorities as needed in a fast-paced environment.
