Role Description

Reporting to the Senior Department Manager/Structural Division Manager, the Marine Structural Engineer will provide expertise for civil infrastructure projects such as ports, harbours, and bridges. Your responsibilities will include project management of ongoing initiatives including scheduling and budgeting. Within a multi-disciplinary team environment, you will be responsible for developing cost-effective engineering designs and construction solutions for the organization’s clients. Your expertise will be pivotal in steering these projects from conception to fruition, maintaining meticulous attention to detail throughout.

 

Duties:

  • Provide engineering designs for civil infrastructure projects (ports, harbours and bridges)
  • Work with diverse teams of discipline managers, engineers, designers and technicians
  • Manage projects and be responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance
  • Act as a technical resource and as a mentor to junior/intermediate staff
  • Write, compile and review technical reports
  • Prepare fee proposals
  • Be a member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement design activities
  • Maintain quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined
  • Prepare regular project summary reports
  • Encourage growth within the group and increase the general knowledge base throughout the company
  • Develop and sustain long-lasting business relationships with clients
  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the field or onsite, promoting a safe working environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ Marine Structural Engineer Experience or equivalent.
  • On path to registration or currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Proven project management and technical skills.
  • Experience with design software such as SAFI, Structure Point, WoodWorks, Microsoft is an asset.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and will be responsible to have a vehicle for work
