Senior Accountant

Our client, the Head Office for Charm Diamond Centres (CJ Limited), is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team in Dartmouth. Reporting to the Controller, responsibilities will include:
- Creation and preparation of monthly and annual financial reporting
- Manage a team of 3 accountants
- Analysis and continuous improvement of reporting to stakeholders
- Identifying gaps in reporting and suggest and implement improvements
- Calculate variances from the budget and prior year and report significant issues to management
- Internal controls analysis and recommendations
- Maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts
- Assistance with documenting accounting policies and procedures
- Identifying gaps in dashboard reporting and suggest and implement improvements
- Assistance with budgeting and cash flow management
- Assistance with year-end review and month end processes
- Improving the accounting process and enhancing the use of the accounting software
- Designing and implementing new systems and process enhancements
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and a commitment to quality
- Providing backup for other functions in the department as needed
- Other duties and assistance with special projects as assigned
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 3+ years experience in accounting or financial reporting with a combination of education and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- A strong team player with a high level of attention to detail
