Sawmill Division currently operates nine Sawmills, two solid wood value added centers, one pellet plant and one peat and soil bagging facility. These facilities are located in NB, NS and the state of Maine. The Sawmill Division employs 1400 people and is currently the 5th largest lumber producer in Canada. It is a key part of the J.D. Irving, Limited forest products value chain.
Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with J.D. Irving – Sawmill Division, to recruit for their Manager of Analytics and Customer Service in Saint John, NB. In this role, you will manage the analytics team and customer sales team to drive business impact through the definition and implementation of technologies or analytical solutions.
The Manager Data Analytics & Customer Service will develop strategies and initiative recommendations to senior leadership, based on data insights from you and your team. You will lead the data and analytics strategies for all business lines, with an aim to use our diverse and large dataset to inform how the business measures and achieves consistent, high-quality performance and reaches strategic objectives.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage divisional analytics team.
- Work closely with operational and/or data science teams to drive business impact through the definition and implementation of technologies or analytical solutions.
- Challenge norms and drive change in the organization to become data driven.
- Provide coaching and feedback in regular one on ones with employees
- Implement data quality & management program within Sawmills Division.
- Build and leverage an understanding of business processes and analyze operational data to support daily management, decision making, and building exception-based alerts & reporting.
- Define a metrics framework that aligns to organizational objectives and processes, enabling efficient and effective management.
- Leverage data to identify new insights beyond the dashboards to drive business action.
- Support and participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
- Ad hoc and project work.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or related subject, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in management is considered an asset
- A passionate communicator and thought leader on how data can drive growth.
- High degree of curiosity coupled with high attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of statistics.
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Strong organizational skills and a strong sense of urgency.
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Cognos, SQL, and other reporting tools.
- Solid understanding of data management.
- Experience with predictive analytics (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning).
