Justice architecture demands multi-faceted design to uphold and express the legal process, and achieve efficient and functional operations, while maintaining a safe and secure environment. Our experience in the design of judicial buildings spans more than 30 years across all levels of government including courthouses, police facilities and detention and correctional centers.

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Business Development within our Justice Studio.
As a Vice President, you will have overall responsibility for the growth, management, and profitability of the Justice sector across multiple studios. In addition to acquiring their own work and nurturing existing client relationships, they oversee and offer insight and strategic direction to market sector Principals. Vice Presidents of Business Development participate in annual Long Range Plan (LRP) sessions and provide input to the Marketing, Operating and Project Plans. In addition, they provide leadership to all employees and support project work, participate in staff evaluations and make recommendations for employee career advancement. You will be responsible for acquiring work with annual fees totaling up to $10M.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sets objectives to achieve annual business development goals; monitors progress on a regular basis
  • Participates in the evaluation of project opportunities; ensures all opportunities support the growth and profitability of the market sector and the organization
  • Acts as a single point of contact on large, complex marketing efforts; leads significant proposals, marketing presentations, contract negotiations and other business development activities
  • Provides guidance and support to market sector Principals; enhances and strengthens their business development activities through active participation and guidance
  • Assesses growth opportunities in market sectors, secures sustainable growth and stability in new business lines
  • Negotiates service target levels with client and monitors level of service; monitors trends and resolves outstanding issues
  • Executes contracts with clients to ensure all project deliverables are captured, establishing project timelines and budget controls. Reviews deviations to standard contract language with legal counsel to ensure organization is compliant with insurance provisions
  • Reviews and validates monthly Fee Forecasts with market sector Principals and Operations to update leads, proposals, and work-in-hand
  • Monitors new trends and activities of competitors; recommends changes to current strategy and direction
  • Prepares, implements and oversees the Marketing Plan for the market sector; responsible for profitability and growth

Required Skills

  • Education: Related post-secondary education
  • Technical: Architectural or engineering systems and design
  • Supervisory/Leadership: Indirect
  • Knowledge: Architectural design and presentation; M&E and structural building systems, permit and building codes
  • Certificates, Licensing, Registrations: Membership with a relevant professional association is an asset
  • Prior Experience in strategic development, business development, project management and client management is required
  • Possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, flexibility and resourcefulness
