The DSS Group of Companies is involved in importation, distribution and service in the Commercial Marine, Aviation, Military, Fire Safety and Environmental Protection industries. Headquartered in Dartmouth, the DSS Group of Companies is a leader in their industry providing their customers with the best products, services, and prices.

We are pleased to partner with them looking to bring an accounting professional to their corporate office in Dartmouth as an Accounting Clerk. The Accounting Clerk provides clerical support to the accounting, sales, service and purchasing departments with day-to-day transactions in Accounts Receivable, Payable and Inventory Control.

Responsibilities will include:


  • Prepare and submit customer invoices
  • Code, post and receipt payments
  • Prepare and coordinate deposit activities
  • Monitor customer accounts for nonpayment or delays
  • Update and maintain inventory levels with creation of reports, postings and adjustments
  • Perform filing and general administrative tasks
  • Liaise with other departments/customers/suppliers
  • Sort, code and enter accounts payable data
  • Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices

The ideal candidate will possess:


  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experiences preferred
  • Certificate or degree in Business/Accounting will be considered a strong asset
  • Professional attitude with strong interpersonal and a high level of communication (written and oral) to deal effectively with staff at all levels, suppliers and customers
  • Excellent organizational skills coupled with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in computer applications including Excel
  • Ability to operate general office equipment
  • Customer service experience as well as previous experience handling cash and credit cards is an asset
  • French language skills will be considered an asset
