On behalf of one of the province’s longest standing and most successful companies, we are seeking a Category Manager to be based in St. John’s, NL. This role is a unique and exciting career opportunity to work with one of the top employers in the province in a key role that will delivery pricing and merchandising strategies that aligns sales and business strategy within a fast paced and dynamic team.

In this new position, the Category Manager will develop category strategies and plans to enhance the shopper experience by providing the right assortment, pricing, store layout and promotions to maximize the company’s sales and profitability and customer satisfaction. Working effectively across all levels and departments within the company, the Category Manager will coordinate with marketing, retail operations and procurement to optimize internal efficiency in delivering category plans to our consumers. They will build collaborative relationships with vendors to ensure ability to meet and exceed the needs of its customers while positioning the organization as the supermarket leader in the Newfoundland marketplace.

The ideal candidate has proven negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong business and financial acumen. A candidate with experience in an analyst, category management, or retail managerial role would be an asset for success in this position. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism, accuracy and detail. This role requires the need to develop strong relationships to drive cross-functional results and works closely with the sales, marketing, and purchasing departments. The Category Manager will ensure complete and thorough analysis to ensure accuracy, profitability and competitiveness, as well as provide market trends and research to support the company's category and pricing strategy.
