Partnered with Meridia, the Shaw Group is looking for a Site Supervisor to join their Shaw Renewables division at their wood pellet facility in Belledune, New Brunswick.

Role Description

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day safety, planning, people leadership and production at the plant. You will ensure standard operating procedures are followed and work with a variety of stakeholders to address opportunities for improvement. You will oversee maintenance, developing the maintenance schedule and developing preventative maintenance practices, ensuring that equipment is operational with as little downtime as possible. Additionally, you will input valuable plant data to accurately record the performance of the plant, as well as inputting payroll data for the employees at the plant.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining a safe workplace for all employees
  • Managing, coordinating, and allocating a team of 12-14 plant personnel on a daily and weekly basis, according to the shifting needs of the business to meet demanding production targets
  • Managing the Plant Operators to run the plant safely, efficiently, and effectively
  • Assisting in the management of the preventative maintenance program
  • Contributing as an active member of the Plant Lean program
  • Instituting operational best practices and reducing process variance and costs by driving continuous improvement through Lean activities

Your Qualifications

As an experienced supervisor in a production or related environment, you have demonstrated the ability to lead a team to meet organizational goals. You have a history of providing direction and motivation to staff to improve plant efficiency, safety, and quality ultimately increasing throughput and producing a product for your customers that you can be proud of. You have a mechanical aptitude with experience planning for maintenance and enhancing maintenance programs. Additionally, you are able to input plant data in an organized and analytical manner, with experience in Microsoft Office products.

Your qualifications include:

  • 3 or more years supervisory experience in a plant environment
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Track record of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Track record of successfully collaborating in a team environment
  • Excellent mechanical skills with a proven history of providing maintenance support
  • Experience collaborating with various areas within an organization
  • Lean experience is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Dayforce is considered an asset
