Now we are excited to partner with Stewart McKelvey in recruiting a Senior Financial Analyst to join their team in Halifax, NS. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst with be responsible for preparation of financial and non-financial monthly reports, reconciliations, analyses, and various daily duties within the Finance department.

Additional duties and responsibilities include:

  • Monthly preparation of financial statements and month end reporting packages;
  • Monthly and quarterly analysis of financial data including reconciliations to budget;
  • Monthly and quarterly reporting of non-financial data for senior management;
  • Monthly detailed analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts;
  • Monthly reconciling of bank accounts;
  • Weekly preparing of cash report;
  • Creating journal entries as necessary;
  • Creating ad-hoc reports for users within the finance department and within the Firm;
  • Assist in preparing for the annual audit; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or equivalent, with a focus in Accounting;
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is a must;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment, preferably in a legal or professional services environment;
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are a requirement;
  • High attention to detail; and
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the economics of a business.
