In the role of Senior  Municipal Engineer, the Sudbury team is seeking an individual that will embrace their collaborative culture and enjoy the scope related to working on water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, flood protection, stormwater management, and storm drainage systems, including planning and design of new facilities, as well as optimization and rehabilitation of existing systems.

As a Senior Municipal Engineer, you will be accountable for providing project engineering and technical expertise, modeling, analysis and design services on multi-disciplinary projects. This will include the management of municipal engineering projects including financial controls, project management, and managing client relationships. You will be participating in studies, assessments, modeling, preliminary and detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering and contract administration. As a subject matter expert, you will be providing engineering and technical design expertise, review of hydraulic calculations and process design for linear watermain and sewer projects. The Senior Municipal Engineer will also be responsible forpreparation of conceptual, preliminary, and final process designs of:

    • Wastewater Treatment Plants
    • Pumping Stations
    • Equalization tanks
    • Outfalls

As the Senior Municipal Engineer, you will be preparing proposals and report as well as liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory and utility agencies, and contractors. This will include providing senior review and professional authentication of memos, reports, drawings, and other engineering documents. In this role you will be leading and participating in Business Development initiatives, planning projects, developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules, and deliverables to execute high quality projects on time and on budget. You will be working closely with engineers, designers, drafting and support staff, and should be able to mentor and coach project teams including technical and field staff, as well as supervise junior engineers, technologists, and designers.


As an ideal candidate you must have a degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution and have a P.Eng. designation, or be eligible for registration in Ontario. You must have over 15 years of progressive experience in municipal engineering and project management of wastewater facilities with at least 10 years working in a consultancy. Candidates with Project management (PMP) designation will be preferred. Having experience in Hydraulic and Hydrologic modelling would be considered an asset. Developing and maintaining positive relationships by delivering sound advice and municipal engineering services in a timely manner is required.
