On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Director of Philanthropy and Engagement to join their team of dedicated professionals for an opportunity to do meaningful work in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The position offers exciting opportunities for innovation, influence and impact, working with a small, but ambitious organization achieving inspiring, significant results.

 

Reporting directly to the Executive Director and leading a collaborative philanthropy/communications team, the Director of Philanthropy and Engagement will lead and deliver the Nature Trust’s philanthropic and communications program and strategy:


o Provide direction, leadership, strategy, planning and reporting for all aspects of philanthropy, communications and public relations for the Nature Trust
o Work collaboratively with the philanthropy/communications team, supporting delivery of major gifts, planned giving and capital campaigns
o Create and deliver all aspects of annual giving program
o Execute all appeals, online giving, monthly and tribute giving, social marketing, grants, community giving and special events
o Lead the creation of new business partnerships & sponsorships initiatives
o Identify and create new and sustaining revenue streams
o Cultivate, steward and own relationships with donors, partners and stakeholders, ensuring ongoing reporting is detailed and engagement is high
o Manage, analyze and report on all revenue development, fund development and communications strategies and programs
o Manage and lead a team of fundraising and communications staff, as well as volunteers and board committees


As the ideal candidate, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and possess seven to ten years of progressive experience in fund development (or with directly transferrable skills and experience) and a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience. You will have a demonstrated track record in setting and consistently achieving fund development targets and KPI’s as well as experience in successfully leading a donor-centric, relationship-focused approach. Proven ability to create engaging, persuasive communications and marketing strategies and resources tailored to key donor/prospect audiences and that drive and sustain philanthropy will be key to success in the role. With exceptional organization, communication and interpersonal skills, you possess strong business acumen and are highly analytical by nature. A related university or college degree is required.
