Discover Halifax is the regional destination marketing organization responsible for overseeing the growth of the visitation economy in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was created in April 2002 by a merger of the Greater Halifax Conventions & Meetings Bureau and the tourism marketing arm of the Halifax Regional Municipality Tourism, Culture & Heritage Department. Governed by an independent Board of Directors and funded by its core partners and a hotel marketing levy, the organization promotes the Halifax region as a year-round destination of choice for business and leisure travelers.

 

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a Director of Market Experiences to join their team of dedicated professionals in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing, the Director of Market Experiences will be responsible for the overall management of the Visitor Experience Program. The primary focus of this position is on the development of and oversight of the corporation’s visitor communication channels. These include the organizations digital platforms and print platforms including visitor guides, maps, digital kiosks, and the “visit-stay-enjoy in room TV channel”. Working with the Vice President, Marketing, the Director of Market Experiences will also lead a strategy to further expand the channels to reach visitors and to adopt booking, reservations, ticketing, and digital conversion tools in these channels. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operation of these channels as well as content and relationships with members experiences and listings.

 

As the ideal candidate, you are a motivated and driven professional possessing a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in a related capacity. You have developed a broad skillset that allows you to be highly adaptable in your work environment. High attention to detail and exceptional communications planning is essential. Strategic thinking as well as strong project management skills with attention to detail/accuracy will be key to success in this role. Deadline driven, you are able to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to change. With exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, you possess strong business acumen and are highly analytical by nature. Post-secondary education in a related program including business, sales, hospitality or other related field is required.
