  • Organize the efforts of a cross-disciplinary team including engineers (both in-house and contract) in the development and enhancement of bio-analytical instrumentation for the detection of microorganisms and other biological molecules in a variety of industrial applications.
  • Work with scientists and engineers on the design and validation of new devices, modules, and instrumentation features.
  • Directly contribute to development projects through hands-on work such as the design of new parts and assembles, troubleshooting, and internal/external training.
  • Provide on-going updates to the executive team on the status of development projects including time, resources, and budget projections.  
  • Present at internal meetings, client locations, and conferences.
  • Contribute to the growth of the company’s IP portfolio.  
  • Work directly with clients on understanding their needs and applications as related to instrumentation needs.  
  • Produce detailed designs and/or CAD drawings, acting as a technical expert on products and processes.
  • Lead rigorous testing and regulatory certification of new equipment/devices.
  • Participation in generating and maintaining product documentation and training materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelors or Masters in Engineering (preference: mechanical, biomedical, electronics).  
  • 3-10 years of relative experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years of cross-disciplinary team and project management experience preferred.
  • Expertise in fluidics preferred.  
  • Excellent electronic, electrical, and mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Expertise in common engineering software and methods including SolidWorks and rapid prototyping.
  • Third-party management experience is an asset.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Strong organizational & time management skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
