Job Description

As a key member of LuminUltra’s R&D Team, based in Baltimore, Maryland reporting to the VP, Product Development, the Senior R&D Scientist – Molecular Assays will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Contribute towards the development of new molecular diagnostics testing tools for infectious disease and industrial microbiology.
  • Optimize and validate qPCR, ATP, and other molecular assays.
  • Optimize and validate new DNA/RNA and small molecule extraction techniques.
  • Contribute to the development of new enzymes, new devices, and diagnostics tools.
  • Contribute to general laboratory maintenance and best practices.
  • Participation in generating and maintaining product documentation and training materials.
  • Mentor less experienced scientists in analyzing data and best practices.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Virology, Enzymology, or related discipline.
  • Documented experience in a molecular biology laboratory.
  • Documented experience with real-time PCR or similar assay development.
  • Experience in protein expression and enzyme characterization highly desired.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
  • Committed to doing whatever it takes to get the job done, we are a small team so you will be asked to wear many hats.
