DesignPoint Engineering & Surveying is a professional services firm specializing in land development, surveying and engineering projects such as municipal infrastructure, stormwater design, flood studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, legal surveys, topographical surveys and specialized 3D laser scanning. They provide catered services to public and private sector clients including land developers, utility service providers, government agencies and individual land owners. Role Description:
In this role, you will be an integral part of the traffic / transportation division, providing design guidance, planning, studies and assessments on various transportation infrastructure related projects. You will be given the resources and support you need to be successful as well as the ability to impact business decisions for the Transportation division. You’ll also mentor and lead project teams and junior staff while overseeing creative projects through all phases from design to construction. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee and provide guidance on transportation infrastructure projects, including the planning, preparation and design of traffic impact statements and reports, multimodal traffic analysis for proposed land development projects, retrofit and newly proposed intersections, road configurations, signage and pavement marking plans, roundabouts and traffic signals;
  • Completing warrants for traffic signal control, auxiliary turn lanes, etc;
  • Conducting road safety audits for existing infrastructure as well as site visits and various field studies as needed;
  • Maintain open communication and strong working relationships with clients, regulators, and other internal and external contacts;
  • Lead public engagement sessions as well as present project solutions to a variety of audiences including council.


Your Qualifications:

  • Must be registered or be able to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Nova Scotia.
  • 8+ years’ applicable experience in traffic / transportation engineering with an emphasis on consulting.
  • Proven track record with project management.
  • Knowledge of Synchro / SimTraffic and of PTV Software (Vissim, Vistro, Vissum), Sidra and other modelling software will be considered an asset.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of traffic regulations, practices and standards within Nova Scotia.
  • Proven experience with overseeing and mentoring junior staff.
