Founded in 1958 with an ambitious commitment to “achieve excellence,” the Halifax Grammar School now welcomes more than 570 children from Junior Primary through Grade Twelve in an environment where passionate teachers challenge eager students to develop knowledge and skill, confidence, and independence in four pillars: Academics, Athletics, Arts, and Altruism.

The School is home to 95 faculty and staff and is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support the development and implementation of best practices human resource policies and programs in a professional, highly engaged, and dynamic setting.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Headmaster, the Human Resources Coordinator provides strategic advice, sound guidance, and full-scope operational and administrative support across the broad spectrum of human resources delivery. Areas of strategic advice and support include recruitment, performance evaluation and management, professional development and succession planning, employee relations, health and safety, and benefits review and administration.

Your Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate you have experience in the full range of human resources delivery including experience developing and implementing policies and procedures. You possess broad knowledge of legislation as it relates to employment, human rights, workers’ compensation, and labour relations and the ability to conduct research to stay on top of such issues. With strong problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, the ability to work well under pressure, and exceptional communication skills, you are able to build rapport and maintain a high level of confidence and integrity within and across a highly professional organization. You are motivated to seek excellence in your work, keep on top of best practices in your field, and have the confidence to provide sound advice and guidance in the spirit of continuous improvement. A university degree in a related discipline is required and CPHR designation is considered an asset.
