Our client is seeking to fill a newly created CTO position to join their team in Toronto, ON.
They are looking for someone who is ready to take ownership of their international technology platform and need a leader who can align long-term and short-term goals of the company in cohesion with the technology roadmap. As the ideal candidate you are strategic by nature and have the ability to visualize the big picture. Bringing an innovative approach, you will have a solid understanding of, and ability to, create a technology roadmap that supports the overall corporate objectives. You are someone who wants to keep current in technology advancements and look to discover ways to gain competitive advantage.

As a demonstrated leader, you are comfortable in your ability to communicate a vision, motivate a team, and create a collaborative culture within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with division owners to establish and execute the strategic roadmap of IT deliverables which are aligned to the corporations’ strategic objectives
  • Overseeing a team of 20 FTE’s
  • Proactive approach to solutions and ideas with the ability to put the business cases together
  • Stay current with up to date technology and technology trends
  • Own and evolve the overall software and supporting hardware architecture
  • Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
  • Ensure appropriate levels of security and privacy are met across our technology initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years relevant IT experience, preferably in a management role
  • Progressive experience in both agile startups and large enterprises
  • BS in Computer Science, MIS or similar field
  • Experience with infrastructure re-builds is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of technical management, information analysis and computer hardware/software systems, front end web/mobile, and back-end software engineering
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building, growing and motivating a team
  • Experience with Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Operations
  • Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage
  • Technical expertise coupled with an understanding of business principles
  • Experience in systems administration, IT troubleshooting
