To help support this growth we are looking to add a Director of People and Culture to our team in Charlottetown, PE. Be part of scaling the business in our dynamic culture while helping our client organizations make a difference in their communities and the world.

Position Summary:

As the inaugural Director of People and Culture, you will be responsible for supporting the existing staff of 60+ and recruitment as we grow. This role will own HR from top to bottom and be very hands on in day to day operations. The role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and offers executive mentorship and a collaborative work environment with a focus on excellence, passion, and fun.

This is a true generalist role, encompassing:

• Policy development and documentation;
• Employee relations, with the goal of establishing a high level of employee morale and motivation;
• Recruitment, staffing and aiding hiring managers as required;
• Develop/revise current performance management system;
• Periodic surveys to measure employee satisfaction and employee engagement;
• Work with employment lawyer and assurance of compliance with regulatory concerns;
• Supervising new employee on-boarding, development, needs assessment and training;
• Internal employee and community communication;
• Compensation and benefits administration;
• Employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health;
• Developing, administering and maintaining an employee Reward & Recognition program;
• Design and management of organization development plan addressing succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention and change management;
• Organizational planning that evaluates company structure, job design, and personnel forecasting throughout the company. Evaluates plans and changes to plans and m recommendations to executive management.

Director of People and Culture Job Requirements:

• Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an HR department.
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the executive management team that provides overall company leadership and direction.
• Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include knowledge of Excel and skills in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

About You - Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma with major in Human Resources (CPHR designation an asset)
• Minimum five (5) years experience in Human Resources (recruitment, employee relations and program development for existing employees)
• Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
• Executive coaching experience, preferred.
• Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources and corporate networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel if required.
