Their Toronto office is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director of HR in our Human Resources Department, reporting to the Director of HR. The ideal individual will be an approachable, seasoned leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at building trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating leadership through the appropriate integration, engagement and partnership of HR with individuals and all other business units in the firm as it relates to benefits/recognition, compensation and recruitment.
• Acting as primary point of contact for management, decision-making and approvals of benefits/recognition and compensation.
• Developing and maintaining current awareness of best practices, trends and market conditions for benefits/recognition, compensation and recruitment.
• Managing and/or directing analysis, delivery and administration of benefits/recognition programs, policies and processes, as well as annual renewal of external benefits.
• Management of STD and LTD claims as well as accommodations and support.
• Managing annual Group RRSP governance activities.
• Evaluating and recommending changes to benefit plans as a result of internal or market analysis.
• Evaluation, recommendation and delivery of wellness benefits programs and participation in various wellness initiatives.
• Managing and/or directing analysis, delivery and administration of compensation programs, policies and procedures, as well as engagement in market surveys.
• Ongoing analysis, development and management of compensation ranges and equity as well as ensuring recruitment application is aligned and consistent.
• Engaged In development of strategy for recruitment and oversight of recruitment delivery.
• Managing and providing direction to HR Recruiter, HR Generalist and HR Coordinator.
• Supporting HR Recruiter and HR Generalist in collection, analysis and reporting of monthly HR statistics.
• Providing partnership and support to Director of HR on various HR-related needs nationally, as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive human resources leadership experience in a large organization law firm or other professional services experience is preferred) with a focus on benefits, compensation and recruitment.
• CHRP designation preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of pensions and Group RRSP plan management is an asset.
• Strong practical knowledge of broad scope of human resources disciplines.
• Experience with direct engagement of executive and other senior management roles within a large organization.
• Experience with managing direct reports.
• Positive approach with a bias for action; strong in character; focused and flexible.
• Experience dealing in and being a contributor to an environment that is demanding and constantly changing.
• Leadership skills that will incite enthusiasm, provide vision, create positive morale, role model standards of professionalism and ensure that direct reports deliver timely and satisfactory results.
• Strong facilitation skills through all modes of communication; well considered communication to support the recipient in comprehending intent.
• Strong interpersonal skills that will support the effectiveness of conflict resolution (seeking to understand and then be understood).
• An approachable manner with the ability to comprehend and relate to people at all levels of an organization while providing effective coaching, advisement, support and guidance.
• Ability to act as a role model of professional conduct pursuing excellence in execution, seeking opportunities for continuous improvement and producing creative and/or unique work solutions that support the people and the business. Ability to anticipate outcomes and to adjust approach and services accordingly.

• Strong personal belief in high standards of customer service. Experience with an HRIS system is an asset
