Discover Halifax is the regional destination marketing organization responsible for overseeing the growth of the visitation economy in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Discover Halifax was created in April 2002 by a merger of the Greater Halifax Conventions & Meetings Bureau and the tourism marketing arm of the Halifax Regional Municipality Tourism, Culture & Heritage Department. Governed by an independent Board of Directors and funded by its core partners and a hotel marketing levy, the organization promotes the Halifax region as a year-round destination of choice for business and leisure travelers.

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a Sales Director to join their team of dedicated professionals in Halifax, Nova Scotia.


Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the Sales Director will be responsible for prospecting, selling, promoting and securing Corporate Meetings, Conventions and Events for Halifax, while providing superior levels of service to assigned accounts. The Sales Director will draw business acumen, creativity and ingenuity to develop and execute on a business development plan that aligns with the broader organizational strategy. Motivated by the ability to achieve results, innovate, and drive business growth, the Sales Director will ensure delivery of exceptional client service and build relationships with partner agencies to create a united sales approach under the Halifax brand.

As the ideal candidate, you possess experience in a relevant senior Sales and Relationship Development Capacity. Industry experience within Meetings & Conventions, Travel Trade or related will be considered an asset. Demonstrated track record of success and an unwavering commitment to excellence, you possess an analytical mindset that helps shape your business development strategy. Using data to drive strategy, competitive insights, and business, you will keenly focus on strategic new business development opportunities. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business or related field is required.
