On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a full-time permanent Payroll Practitioner to join their team in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Practitioner is responsible to complete the timely and accurate processing of semi-monthly and Vessel Settlement Payrolls for both unionized and non-unionized employees.

Major responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Crewing/HR Department within Lunenburg to prepare payrolls
  • Preparing payroll for submission
  • Managing any employee changes/updates
  • Account reconciliations – preparing and processing journal entries
  • Benefits administration- enrollments, status changes, reconciliation
  • Coding invoices for payment from benefit providers and coordinating approvals
  • Preparing year end payouts per agreements
  • Coordinating bonus related transactions
  • Supporting any audit requests

  • PCP certification or willingness to obtain, and/or combination of relevant work experience
  • Proficient skillset in Microsoft Office
  • ADP payroll software and/or SAP user knowledge is an asset
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Good problem-solving skills
