We are working on a great role with our client, Heritage Gas. Since 2003, Heritage Gas has operated a regulated natural gas distribution franchise in Nova Scotia providing natural gas service to customers in Halifax, Dartmouth, Pictou, Amherst, and Oxford. Heritage Gas also offers natural gas service through compressed natural gas (CNG) trucking to users currently outside the traditional pipeline distribution network. The company is a subsidiary of AltaGas Canada Inc., based in Calgary, Alberta.

Heritage Gas is seeking a well-rounded individual to join their team as a Senior Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting & Controls, the primary responsibilities of the Senior Financial Analyst include managing the budgeting and forecasting process, delivering well supported and documented financial plans reflecting current and future business strategies. As a key member of a small team, the Senior Financial Analyst develops and maintains financial models and analyses supporting strategic initiatives and current and past performance.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and requirements:

  • University degree, preferably in Business Administration or Commerce.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation would be an asset.
  • Experience in developing and working with financial models and budgeting is required.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive financial or accounting experience is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Advanced planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multifaceted, complex and evolving priorities and systems for planning, budgeting, analysis, evaluation and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to disseminate significant amounts of information and analyze complex financial problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as partner with others and work well within a small team.
