We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance to join their team. The Director of Finance will be responsible for the financial management of the firm including planning; budgeting; forecasting; variance analysis; profitability analysis; financial reporting; general ledger accounting; cash flow control and forecasts; banking relationships; investment; tax planning; tax reporting; and trust accounting and reporting.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the finance department
  • Conducting long-term planning to ensure the finance infrastructure supports future requirements and initiatives
  • Ensuring financial internal control processes are in compliance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise and/or other regulatory requirements
  • Overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions
  • Leading the year-end audit process and working with external auditors to prepare annual financial statements for stakeholders
  • Cash management and treasury functions
  • Analysis of the organization’s financial condition and providing advice on cost effective saving measures
  • Preparing reports to partners and executing the partner profit distribution
  • Leading the annual budget development process
  • Developing finance staff to meet the changing needs of users, groups and offices as well as new projects and technologies
  • Recommending and implementing best practices in financial policies and procedures
  • Staying informed on commodity, income tax planning and regulatory compliance issues and trends
  • Fostering relationships with key external partners including banks, financing institutions, external auditors, etc.
  • Playing a key role in assessing capital investment viability with regards to leasehold opportunities for decision making purposes
  • Overseeing and ensuring the quality, accuracy, security, privacy and integrity of the accounting system and data
  • Recommending and implementing business process automation as it relates to the accounting functions

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current CPA designation
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience of senior financial management experience. Experience with professional services firms would be considered an asset
  • Strong business acumen
  • Exceptional relationship building skills coupled with a drive for results
