Located near Fredericton, New Brunswick, our client, Leading Edge Geomatics, is a leader in airborne imagery and LiDAR acquisition and processing, allowing them to produce information that helps organizations map, monitor and manage their assets. We are looking for an experienced Vice President, Finance (VP, Finance) to join their team. The VP Finance is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of the organization’s financial position ensuring preparation is in accordance with GAAP. The VP, Finance is also responsible for budgeting and forecasting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, monthly reporting to the shareholders, managing relationships with financial institutions, monitoring the capital structure of the company, and establishing and maintaining internal controls. The VP, Finance is an integral position in managing change with other members of senior management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and managing the accounting team
  • Managing finance operations such as customer billing, work in progress, revenue recognition, payables, CaPex purchases, etc
  • Managing the relationship with external auditors and financial institutions. Coordinating the annual audit as the main point of contact
  • Preparing annual operating and capital budgets, monthly financial statements, forecasts, and variance analysis, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Coordinating the preparation of tax returns utilizing consulting firms if required. Taking the lead role in establishing invoicing and tax compliance in international jurisdictions including the United States
  • Reviewing, improving and maintaining internal control policies and procedures
  • Utilizing the software systems to better manage and operate the business
  • Involvement in all significant business decisions with senior management and shareholders when required
  • Preparing information for and attending the Board of Director meetings
  • Involvement in investment decisions and preparing supporting analysis for the Board of Directors
  • Any other duties assigned by the Board of Directors or senior management

The ideal candidate:

  • Current CPA designation with a minimum of 10 years’ senior level financial experience
  • Superior leadership and communications skills with the ability to be a changer leader in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills with the ability to add value to operations
  • Focused on delivering outstanding results in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized and efficient
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality and ability to creatively problem solve
